Iben back in the studio for more voice-work, and a ramble about the gear we use.

Iben will be in and out of the studio a lot this week, recording tons of more voices for the game. Good times :)

The microphone of choice is a Lewitt 540s. There must be other nerds than me that are interested in microphones :D It's a large-diaphragm with 0db of self noise! 0! That was the feature that first attracted me to it, after a purchase of anther great vocal mic that unfortunately has 15db of self-noise. Which bascially rendered it useless for me on these delicate, intmate recordings.
So I have two of these 540s from Lewitt, and they get used all the time. The sound from them is clear, full and "precise", and also the mounting system and the mic itself are so quick and easy to set up. The mic itself isn't very big, it sounds great, is "unclunky" to set-up.. so yeah, the first mic I reach for in many situations.  :D

More gear nerding? The mic is amplified through a Cranborne EC2. which is also supplying her headphone amp.

The Cranborne exosystem is perfect small and flexible setups like mine! The audio then goes through an ethernet cable, as analogue audio(!) and arrives at an Elysia Xpressor. Which is set to for the most part catch sudden peaks in the audio.

ok, enough pictures of gear :D The Elysia lives in a 500 ADAT rack from Cranborne, so this is where the audio is made digital, and sent to my audio interface, which is an Antelop Orion Studio 2017. Yeah, sorry, talking about gear is too much fun :D But!! Making fun things with it is of course even better. You will hear lots of Iben's work in the next demo.

Didn't expect that you can do other stuff with ethernet cables than just getting a better connexion

It's great. 4 channels of analogue audio, 2 in each direction :) Excellent for flexible setups ca this size. And! Ethernet cables are so inexpensive compared to audio cable, and built to great specs. Cranborne Audio have solutions for an entire studio eco-system using analogue audio over ethernet :D
